Wine Map

The itinerary we designed for wine lovers guided journalist Julia Buckley in discovering the very best of our wine industry. The result? A National Geographic feature that reaffirms the rise of Uruguay’s wine industry, solidifying its position in the region and beyond!

For some time now, Uruguay’s wine industry has been making a name for itself, forming a wine tourism triangle with Argentina and Chile—three must-visit destinations for wine enthusiasts.

At Nómade, we have a special passion for this industry—not just because we love the product, but because of the poetic storytelling that can be built around a beverage with 12,000 years of cultural heritage.

Our passion led us to become strategic partners in the development of the Uruguayan Wine Map—a meticulously designed and curated cartographic guide that maps out an extensive wine route featuring a wide variety of wineries and wine bars.

The attention to detail and the expert curation, done in collaboration with our partners, have earned international recognition, boosting Uruguay’s reputation as a top-tier wine destination.

This time, the Wine Map of Uruguay made its way to National Geographic, accompanying Julia Buckley on her adventure. A seasoned travel journalist, Buckley used the map to craft her itinerary, ultimately writing an article that promotes and showcases our wine industry, with Tannat as its emblematic grape—a true representation of Uruguay’s bold, rustic red wines.

“Now, Tannat is winning international awards, Uruguayan winemakers are making it onto the world’s top lists, and there’s a new tourist route—the Wine Map—that charts 95% of Uruguay’s boutique wineries. Since the country is small, you can use it to design a week-long road trip filled with history, landscapes, and, of course, wine.”
